• Improve your focus
• Read books 2-3x faster
• Enhance your productivity

But 99% of people have no idea how to do it.

Here’s everything you need to know about speed reading (& how to master it):

X

Speed reading isn’t just about reading faster...

It’s about training your brain to process text more efficiently without losing comprehension.

Most people read at about 200-300 words per minute.

Speed readers can read at 500-1,000+ wpm.

Here are 8 methods they use to achieve this kind of speed…

1. Subvocalization Reduction

The biggest barrier to speed reading is subvocalization.

That’s the voice in your head that sounds out every word you read.

If you want to read faster, you need to reduce subvocalization.

You don’t have to “hear” every word to understand the content.

Try focusing on visually absorbing the words rather than mentally sounding them out.

2. Meta-Guiding (Using Your Finger or Pen)

Meta-guiding involves using a:

• Pointer
• Finger
• Pen

To guide your eyes along the lines of text.

This method keeps your eyes from wandering and maintains your focus on the text.

3. Chunking Words Together

Most people read word by word, which is inherently slow.

Speed readers, on the other hand, chunk words together.

This trains your eyes to read groups of words at once.

So, how do you do this?

4. Skimming & Scanning

Two powerful speed reading techniques are skimming and scanning.

1) Skimming

This involves quickly moving through the text to grasp the main ideas without getting bogged down by the details.

2) Scanning

This involves looking for specific information like

• Key points
• Names
• Dates,

By moving your eyes rapidly over the text.

5. Peripheral Reading

Peripheral reading means using your peripheral vision to see more words at a time.

Instead of focusing just on the center of the line…

Practice widening your vision to see additional words in the corner of your eyes.

This reduces the number of eye movements you make & helps you take in more information faster.

6. Avoid Regression

Regression is the habit of going back to re-read something you've already read.

To avoid this, use a guide or consciously train yourself to move forward continuously.

Even if you feel you missed something small, trust your comprehension and keep progressing.

Breaking the habit of regression can instantly boost your reading speed.

7. Use Speed Reading Apps and Tools

Speed reading apps like:

• Spreeder
• Accelereader
• ReadSpeeder

Can help train your eyes and mind to read faster.

8. Practice Rapid Serial Visual Presentation (RSVP)

RSVP is a technique where text is displayed one word at a time in the same spot on the screen.

This eliminates eye movement which allows your brain to focus solely on reading comprehension..

Tools like “Spritz” use RSVP to help you practice speed reading.
